The Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary in Fatima will host a special celebration of consecration to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and to the Immaculate Heart of Mary today. The Patriarch of Lisbon, Card. José Manuel Macário do Nascimento Clemente, will “consecrate the entire Iberian Peninsula, Spain and Portugal and their respective islands”. The news was announced on the website of the Basilica which will live stream both the Rosary, led by the Bishop of Fatima, Card. António dos Santos Marto, at 18.30, and this special celebration presided over by the Patriarch at 19.30. “All dioceses will join together in praying the Rosary for the intentions of the whole world, and Portugal in particular, in this dramatic situation we are experiencing because of the COVID-19 coronavirus”, the Permanent Council of the Portuguese Bishops’ Conference said in a statement. It is “the first time that the two countries are consecrated together at the same time to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and to the Immaculate Heart of Mary”, the website of the Shrine reports.
