Spain: inclusion of people with disabilities, learning Good Practices from the dioceses

The area of pastoral care and catechesis for people with disabilities of the Bishops’ Commission for Evangelisation, Catechesis and Catechumenate in Spain sent a form to the dioceses to learn about their Good Practices for the inclusion of people with disabilities in the Church. Such initiative is in line with the slogan of the «Tú y yo somos Iglesia» campaign (You and I Are Church), held to coincide with the latest International Day of People with Disabilities, and aims at encouraging people with disabilities and their families to feel proactively involved in the life of the Church: learning about the experiences that are already in place in the dioceses will make the job easier. For the purpose, a form was sent to the diocesan directors of disability and pastoral services for the deaf or to the people in charge of the catechesis in the dioceses in which there are no people in charge of such services. Such recipients will act as go-betweens to get the highest number of responses in the parishes and in the groups of every diocese. The second meeting of diocesan directors of disability services will be held in Madrid on April 13th. One of the items on the agenda will be about sharing the “Good Practices” already accomplished in parishes, groups and movements.catechesis
