EU: competition for young journalists. Training in Brussels and nomination for Megalizzi-Niedzielski Prize

The 2020 edition of the Youth4Regions competition for aspiring young journalists opens today. Sponsored by the European Commission, the programme is meant to help journalism students and young journalists to discover what the EU is doing in their region. The aim of this initiative is to help improve understanding of the EU and its regional policies. Only journalism students or recent graduates with up to 2 years of experience in the sector are eligible to apply. From all applications received, 33 winners will be selected and invited to Brussels during the EU Week for Regions and Cities (October 2020). There, they will be able to follow trainings, receive mentorship from established journalists, work together with the latter in the pressroom and visit the EU institutions and media organizations. Successful applicants will also be considered for the Megalizzi–Niedzielski Prize for aspiring journalists. The competition is open to applicants from EU Member States, neighbouring and accession countries. More information is available at www.youth4regions.eu. The deadline for submitting applications is 13 July 2020.
