Today, the European Commission revealed the results of the March 2026 DiscoverEu call, an initiative that is part of Erasmus+ programme. 40,912 eighteen-year-olds will receive a travel pass “to explore the continent’s diversity, learn about its cultural heritage and history, and connect with people from every corner of Europe”. The selected applicants will travel alone or in groups of up to five people, mainly by train, from July 2026 to September 2027. Glenn Micallef, Commissioner for Intergenerational Fairness, Youth, Culture and Sport, said: “A DiscoverEU pass is not just a ticket but an invitation to experience the cultural richness and beauty of Europe first-hand. To the thousands of young people selected today, I would like to say: Europe is waiting for you. Pack your curiosity, bring your ambition, and turn this trip into a story worth telling”. Since its launch in 2018, over 2 million young people have applied for a travel pass over the course of fourteen DiscoverEu application rounds.
