On 15 March, “Flame”, the most important youth event organised by the Bishops’ Conference of England and Wales, will return to Wembley Arena in London, just a short walk from the famous stadium where, back in 1982, John Paul II brought together 8,000 faithful. Organised for the first time in 2012 on the occasion of the Olympics, the event took place every two years until 2019 when it was interrupted due to the pandemic. The event is promoted for months, and the young people who participate in “Flame” are often part of youth groups that meet in parishes and dioceses every week or month, and continue to meet even after the London event. The event two years ago was attended by the Catholic Primate of England and Wales Cardinal Vincent Nichols and other Bishops, as well as by famous singers and rappers such as Guvna B and Adenike. The day began with the reading of a message from Pope Francis
