The Permanent Commission of the Spanish Bishops’ Conference will hold its 268th meeting today and tomorrow, 26 and 27 September, at its institutional headquarters in Madrid (C. Añastro, 1). According to the website of the Spanish Bishops’ Conference, one of the main topics on the agenda will be the Vocations Congress scheduled to take place in Madrid from 7 to 9 February 2025. During the meeting, the Spanish Bishops will also be called upon to address various issues related to other bodies and commissions of the Bishops’ Conference. Among them – the website of the Bishops’ Conference goes on to explain – there will be a proposal for an ecumenical declaration and celebration for the 1700th anniversary of the Council of Nicaea by the Bishops’ Commission for the Doctrine of the Faith. The “Marriage Week 2024” initiative will then be assessed together with the budget request for the 2025 campaign by the Episcopal Subcommission for the Family and the Defence of Life. The Permanent Commission will then approve the agenda for the next plenary assembly which will take place from 18 to 22 November. Finally, the Bishops of the Permanent Commission will be briefed on the activities of bodies such as Ábside Media, the Spanish Institute of Foreign Missions, and the National Catholic Confederation of Parents of Students.
