The Portuguese National Secretariat of Social Communication disclosed the programme of the National Days of Communication, which will take place on 25th and 26th September and will be focussed on “Communicating without artificial colours or preservatives”. This year’s Days will be held in Coimbra and will revolve around the speeches given by Pope Leo XIV and Pope Francis’s last message for the World Day of Social Communication, tackling the challenges of the digital world and the value of humanness in the media. After the opening session, the Days’ focus will be explored in a talk with Clara Almeida Santos (University of Coimbra) and Father Paulo Duarte about “Substance and appearance: frontiers in communication”. Later on, the attendants will investigate communication strategies in different areas of the Catholic Church, also raising the question of “Substance and appearance”. On Friday 26th September, the digital team of Grupo Renascença will host a workshop about “Digital storytelling. How to create impactful and relational contents”. The closing speech will be a reflection on the boundaries between the digital and the human in the context of the development of Artificial Intelligence, that João Paiva (University of Porto) will address : “IA: in(this) time and sense(i)”.
