EU Parliament: debate between institutions and churches on housing problem. “A Europe that supports people, families and youth”

The European Parliament is holding a debate – Brussels, 4 June, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. – with the representatives of European institutions and Churches, religious associations and philosophical and non-confessional organisations “with the aim of informing the debate on housing-related issues”. “Housing in the EU: Strategies for a Europe that Supports People, Families and Younger Generations” is the title of the event, promoted by Antonella Sberna, Vice-President of the European Parliament responsible for the implementation of Article 17 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union, which enshrines “dialogue with churches, and religious, non-confessional and philosophical organisations”. Following the introductory remarks and greetings by the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, several speakers will take the floor, including the Executive Vice-President of the European Commission, Raffaele Fitto; Magnus Brunner, European Commissioner responsible for the implementation of Article 17; Irene Tinagli, Chair of the Special Committee on the Housing Crisis in the European Union; and representatives of Churches, religious associations and philosophical and non-confessional organisations. “This broad dialogue provides a key space for discussion, listening, and exchange of different perspectives”, a statement reads, “to build a common understanding of the housing crisis issue, which is of the utmost importance for the European institutions”. The event can be watched live on the European Parliament’s website. In addition, the European Parliament Office in Italy will broadcast the event at the Europa Experience-David Sassoli Space in Piazza Venezia 6C, Rome.
