Council of Europe: cybercrime, 500 experts in Strasbourg. Artificial Intelligence, crime, fraud on the agenda

Cybercrime at the centre of a meeting of over 500 experts in Strasbourg (4-6 June) to discuss challenges, legislation, international cooperation against such problems. Long is the list of items on the agenda: from Artificial Intelligence to digital threats to democracy, from Internet fraud to youth and cybercrime, and the connections between the Convention on Cybercrime of the Council of Europe (Budapest Convention) and the new United Nations Convention Against Cybercrime (“Hanoi Convention”). Plenary meetings, workshops and discussion groups will alternate with each other in the programme, which also includes continent-wide focuses for attendees from all over the world, with speeches by leaders of different committees of the Council of Europe, other organisations (European Union, Interpol, OSCE, UNODC), the United States Department of Justice, as well as speakers from the private sector, civil society and criminal judiciaries. The Conference will be opened by Alain Berset, Secretary General of the Council of Europe, and Jonathan Attard, Malta’s Minister for Justice. The Conference is part of Octopus Project 2021-2027, based on voluntary contributions from some countries and organisations.
