“Family networks for the future of the Church” is the name of the international conference organised by the Federation of Catholic Family Associations in Europe (FAFCE) in partnership with the Dicastery for the Laity, the Family and Life, which will take place on Saturday 31st May in Rome (09.00am-01.30pm, at LUMSA University), as part of the Jubilee of Families, Children, Grandparents and the Elderly. It was Pope Francis who, first in 2017 then in 2022, urged FAFCE to work to create and strengthen family networks as a service for the local, European and world Church, in terms of “lay people and families supporting families”. After the official opening addresses, the items on the morning’s agenda include a speech by Gabriella Gambino, undersecretary of the Dicastery for the Laity, the Family and Life, and neuropsychiatrist Mariolina Ceriotti Migliarese, which will be followed by an international workshop about “Family networks for mutual support and proximity”, with guest speakers such as Julia M. Dezelski (USA), Father Youssef Abi Zeid (Lebanon), Pascale Morinière (France) Juan Pablo Faúndez Allier (Chile), Jane Wathuta (Kenia). The second part of the morning will be focussed on “Stronger families for more thriving societies” and a speech by Hosffman Ospino (Boston College, USA) as well as a second international workshop on the “Family Global Compact”, with leaders of transnational associations (Montserrat Gas-Aixendri, Francesco Belletti, Mónica Santamarina, Father Joseph Alexander de León, Javier Fiz Perez) as guest speakers. The closing address will be held by Bishop Dario Gervasi, secretary of the Dicastery for the Laity, the Family and Life.
