Spain: Manos Unidas (Catholic NGO) launches its annual campaign against hunger in the world

The Spanish Catholic NGO “Manos Unidas” has launched its 2025 campaign against hunger entitled “Sharing is our greatest wealth”. The initiative – outlined on the organisation’s website – aims to promote the value of the “culture of sharing” while also fighting poverty and building a “better world”. The campaign is also part of the implementation of the “2023-2027 five-year plan: the challenge of dignity” adopted by the Spanish NGO and inspired by the UN Sustainable Development Goals to “share prosperity and eradicate poverty, hunger and inequality”. Through its digital channels, Manos Unidas invites all people to contribute to the annual campaign project by supporting it with prayer and donations. Also, as part of the fundraising campaign, there will be a day of “voluntary fasting” on Friday 7 February, and a collection in all Spanish churches on Sunday 9 February. The money raised will be donated to support the Manos Unidas campaign against hunger. In launching the 2025 campaign, the Spanish NGO has set itself two challenges: the first is to convey “a new message of prosperity, where not only economic growth but also the well-being of each individual is important”. In line with this vision, the second challenge is to “support initiatives that propose a model of social economy that fights the ‘throwaway culture’”.
