International Day of Persons with Disabilities: Spanish Episcopal Conference, presentation of the book “Imagines and signs for an inclusive catechesis”

The Commission for Evangelisation, Catechesis and Catechumenate of the Spanish Episcopal Conference presented the book “Images and signs for an inclusive catechesis”, to coincide with the International Day of People with Disabilities that is celebrated on Wednesday, 3rd December. As well as the book, the message of the member Bishops of the Episcopal Commission, a liturgical guide for the day’s Eucharistic celebrations, the day’s poster and a video have been prepared and circulated too, with the title “United in Jesus’s Joy”. In their message, the Spanish Bishops pointed out that the theme chosen this year – i.e. “United in Jesus’s Joy” – takes inspiration from the “genuine joy that is born of the encounter with Christ and becomes living witness for the community”. They pointed to the endless dignity that “all persons, with no exceptions, own and nobody can take away. Through Baptism, we are all God’s children, called to the fullness of sacramental life”. The Church too, as a “mother that welcomes and takes care of all its children”, is called to commit itself to removing every barrier and promoting the inclusion of people with disabilities “as much in sacramental life as in its communion, listening and communal life processes”, the Spanish prelates added.
