Caritas Tallinn (Estonia) will hold a fundraising event on December 21st, the fourth Sunday of Advent, to support the work they do for young pregnant women and young mothers in a state of vulnerability. The Caritas staff meet them to understand their problems and “to offer precisely the kind of support they need the most, so that they can have hope and strength to get out of their state of vulnerability and enjoy their babies”, the project organisers explained. The support of the Caritas programme for families “is not limited to the first few months or years in the child’s life”; “we support families as long as they are vulnerable and as long as they need both attention and help. There are families that need unconditional care and support all through their lives”. The children’s wellbeing is invariably dependent on the mothers’ coping skills and the environment that surrounds the family, they kept on explaining from Tallin. So, it is important for the community to notice, take care of and support them, because, when a family deals with difficult situations or events with the support and help of the community, this gives them confidence in their own kind and gives them hope to overcome their problems. This is the meaning of the fundraising event launched online and in the churches for next Sunday. This is supported by the Brigidine Sisters of the Pirita Convent, which hosts Caritas’s work in support of families.
