Romania: human trafficking, a training course in Iasi for Rumanian, Moldavan and Ukrainian CARITAS agencies

About twenty people will be attending an intensive course on awareness-raising and the fight against human trafficking organised in Iasi, Romania, from 14th to 16th October, by Caritas Romania Confederation in partnership with Caritas Ukraine and Caritas Moldavia. Ukrainian delegates will come from Caritas Chernivtsi and Odessa, Romanian ones will come from Caritas Iasi, Bucharest, Oradea and Cluj-Napoca. The course is funded by Caritas Spain and held by British trainers Colin Carswell and Tracy Bradford. The goal of the course is to strengthen cross-border cooperation among the Caritas agencies of Ukraine, Romania and Moldavia, reduce the risk of human trafficking, contain the negative impact of war on vulnerable displaced people; support safe social inclusion of displaced persons; and develop a regional support and action network. During the course, the attendees will get an insight into topics such as identifying indicators of human trafficking and identifying victims; protecting victims and professionals working in the field; modern forms of exploitation and current recruitment methods. This joint initiative – Caritas Iasi explained in a release – “reiterates Caritas’ commitment to safe migration, human dignity and the protection of vulnerable people”.
