The national meeting of directors of family pastoral services, convened by the Committee for Family Life of the Romanian Episcopal Conference (CER), is starting in Cluj-Napoca, a city in the north-west of Romania, today. The meeting will be attended by about 70 people: diocesan leaders and families working in pastoral care. The event is starting this afternoon with a speech by mgr. Iosif Csaba Pal, Bishop of Timisoara and Head of the Committee for Family Life at CER, and a presentation of the work completed in the dioceses and eparchies of the Catholic Church in Romania in the last year. The programme of the event includes two speeches by Gabriella Gambino, undersecretary of the Dicastery for Laity, Family and Life: the first one this afternoon about “Faith and Catechumenate: the encounter with Christ and His sequela in married life”; the second one tomorrow morning about “The Domestic Church and the Mission”. Gambino was in Romania before, and precisely in Bucharest in 2023, for the CCEE meeting but she will meet the directors of family pastoral services of the local Church for the first time. The event will include moments of dialogue, sharing and prayer. The event, that will end in the evening of Wednesday March 11th, will be attended by mgr. Laszlo Bocskei, president of CER, His Beatitude Claudiu Lucian Pop, leader of the Romanian Greek Catholic Church, and mgr. Gergely Kovacs, Roman Catholic Archbishop of Alba Iulia.
