Spain: New Evangelisation Fund, 272 projects funded with 2.6 million. Most of the aid to Africa

At its latest meeting at the end of November, the Executive Committee of the Spanish Bishops’ Conference approved funding for 272 new projects from the New Evangelisation Fund totalling €2,605,900. “These projects – according to the information report published by the Committee – were funded thanks to the financial collaboration between the Bishops’ Conference, the dioceses, religious congregations and other Spanish church institutions, as well as private donors”. Most of the projects concern dioceses on the African continent (159 projects, accounting for 57.44% of the total), but there are also initiatives in Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador, Venezuela, El Salvador, Haiti, and other Latin American countries. There is also a considerable number of projects in countries such as Bangladesh, India, Syria and Albania. In Spain, a contribution of €5,000 has been granted to the Missionary Formation School in Madrid. The main goals of the funded projects are catechesis and training, the construction and furnishing of buildings, support for monasteries and religious institutes, the care of priests and seminaries, and the purchase of motor vehicles.
