EU-Ukraine: Metsola (Parliament) in Kyiv to reaffirm “Europe’s continued and unwavering support”

(Brussels) The President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, is in Kyiv today “to reaffirm Europe’s continued and unwavering support for Ukraine”. In her meetings with President Zelenskyy, with Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko and the Speaker of Ukraine’s Verkhovna Rada (Parliament) Ruslan Stefanchuk, as well as with political group leaders in the Rada, President Metsola – according to a statement from Brussels – is expected to stress the European Parliament’s: “support for a permanent, just, and real peace”; “continued efforts to weaken Russia’s war machine through stronger coordinated sanctions”; need to advance Ukraine’s EU membership bid. During her visit, President Metsola will address Ukraine’s Parliament (Verkhovna Rada), and will officially announce the opening of the European Parliament’s official representation in Kyiv (co-located with the EU Delegation), showing “Europe’s increased presence and support on the ground”.
