(Brussels) “One year on, Europe is in a harder place. Our growth model is fading. Inaction threatens not only our competitiveness but our sovereignty itself”. Mario Draghi “rereads” Mario Draghi: during today’s conference in Brussels, called “One year after the Draghi report”, Italy’s former Prime Minister, the author of a document on competitiveness that he had been asked for by the European Commission back then, used grim words to speak of the delays of the EU policy, the many member states holding it back, the mistakes in economic and trade issues (US tariffs). One year after the publication of the Draghi report, during the conference, which was opened by President Ursula von der Leyen, the European Commission wanted to take stock of the progress made and outlined a roadmap. President Ursula von der Leyen pointed out that the Draghi report is “a veritable roadmap for action and the new Commission got off to a flying start since day one”. But Draghi did not seem to share such view.
