Augustinians: Fr. Farrell, “time of grace, unity and renewal”. Third day of work

The third day of the General Chapter of the Order of Saint Augustine, celebrated yesterday, opened with a Mass presided over by Fr. Michael Bielecki on the anniversary of his profession. “We celebrate not only our perseverance – he said – but also God’s faithfulness that transforms every trial into grace”. Immediately afterwards, Fr. Alejandro Moral Anton, Prior General, issued a call for the renewal of the Order. The session was introduced by Fr. Pasquale di Lernia, Secretary General, who formally opened the proceedings with the roll call of participants. The highlight of the morning was the address by the Vicar General, Fr. Joseph Farrell, President of the Chapter, who drew attention to the challenges posed by the contemporary world – wars, migrations, loneliness, indifference to faith – and pointed to the Augustinian way of truth, interiority and fraternity. “Our mission – he said – is to walk together, with hope, seeking the common good. May this Chapter be for all of us a time of grace, unity and renewal, under the gaze of St Augustine and Our Lady of Consolation”.
