Jubilee of Youth: Spain, over 3,000 participants from Madrid. “Adventure to renew relationship with God, others and creation”

The Youth Delegation of the Archdiocese of Madrid is finalising preparations for the Jubilee of Youth, which will take place in Rome from 28 July to 3 August. Over 3,000 young people from Madrid aged between 16 and 35 are expected to take part in the Jubilee days. “A great deal of logistical planning is needed for this pilgrimage”, said Joeluis Cerutti, one of the 40 volunteers involved in the organisation, “in order to allow each young person to live a profound experience of prayer, encounter and community”. The organisers call it “an enriching adventure that will allow participants to renew their relationship with God, with others, and with all creation”. According to Cerrutti, above all, we want the primary focus to be on the significance of being a diocese: “Living this pilgrimage together as the Church of Madrid” is indeed the motto chosen by the Archdiocese of Madrid. For the preparation of the pilgrimage to Rome, the musical piece “Alza la Vista” was recorded as a diocesan hymn for the Jubilee of Youth. The bus journey has been planned with various stops, both on the way to and from Rome, to allow participants to visit places rich in faith and holiness, such as Turin (Don Bosco and Pier Giorgio Frassati), Assisi (St Francis, St Clare, and Blessed Carlo Acutis), Genoa, and Girona. On Friday, 1 August, the young participants from Madrid will be attending a meeting with Cardinal José Cobo at the Basilica of Saint Paul Outside the Walls. The same day, they will join other Spanish dioceses for a national meeting.
