Portugal: Christian Workers’ Movement, a Congress tomorrow and on Sunday, with a focus on migration, housing emergency and citizenship

The “Catholic Workers’ League” – Christian Workers’ Movement” of Portugal will hold its national Congress at the diocesan seminary of Leiria on Saturday June 7th and on Sunday June 8th. Based on a notice from the organisation, at the Congress, which has been convened for an exchange of ideas, for debates and to outline what routes to take, the leaders of the Movement and delegates of its local teams will give priority to these topics: work, migration, housing emergency and citizenship. “Evangelising, signifying the world of labour” is the motto chosen for Saturday’s and Sunday’s Congress, aiming to keep listening to the “cry of the poor and the cry of the Earth in pursuit of the common dream of a better and fairer world, especially for the most disadvantaged ones”, the notice goes on. It is the Catholic Workers’ League’s mission to take on and develop, in its efforts, “the values that advance, announce and lay the conditions for the building of a new society, placed in the dynamics of working life, partaking of the supportive journey of workers looking for justice and collective promotion”.
