EU Parliament: 8,500 young people expected in Strasbourg for EYE2025. Under 30s discussing the future of Europe

(Brussels) The European Parliament will host around 8,500 young people in Strasbourg on 13-14 June for EYE2025 (European Youth Event). According to the European Parliament press office, the event will bring together young citizens from 153 countries “to engage in discussions with MEPs, Commissioners and other EU decision-makers, as well as with experts, activists, and content creators”. Roberta Metsola, the European Parliament’s President, will take part in a question-and-answer session about the future of Europe. Parliament Vice-President Sabine Verheyen will participate in the opening ceremony in the EYE Village, and Vice-President Pina Picierno will speak at the closing event. MEPs will also join various panels, sharing with young people what they do and sharing insights into Parliament’s legislative work in areas such as climate justice, freedom of speech and media, and the EU’s long-term budget. Now in its sixth edition, the European Youth Event “is a unique opportunity for 16‑ to 30‑year‑olds to inspire and get inspired, to debate directly with European decision‑makers, and to exchange views with experts, activists, and content creators, both inside the European Parliament in Strasbourg and around the EYE Village”. The full programme is available here. The programme will be coordinated by the European Youth Forum, that clarifies: “The EYE’s core values are democracy, inclusiveness and co-creation, as well as a strong commitment to giving young people a voice”.
