From January 4th to January 8th the John Paul II diocesan youth pastoral centre in Sarajevo hosted the sixth “Meeting for Democracy”, organised as part of the “Youth and Democracy – Vision is decision” project. It was attended by students from different secondary schools of Bosnia and Herzegovina: from the cities of Zenica, Sarajevo, Travnik, Usora, Kiseljak and Tuzla. The purpose of the meeting was to give students the opportunity to acquire new knowledge, promote democratic values and strengthen mutual friendships. The items on the agenda included cyberbullying, as well as the advantages and challenges of social networks, with a special focus on mental health in the digital environment. One of the workshops dealt with “Looking through the eyes of human rights”, with the young students providing reflections on the fundamental principles of the Declaration of Human Rights. Cases of breached rights were analysed, and solutions were put forward to build a fairer society. In addition, the attendees visited the Parliament of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Archives of Bosnia and Herzegovina were visited too, and there the students learnt how to conserve and protect historical documents.
