The forthcoming Youth Synod, the pastoral programme for 2019-2022, the problems of the new Privacy rules: these will be the items on the agenda for the 379th plenary meeting of the Polish Bishops. Due to take place in Siedlce and in Janow Podlaski to coincide with the 200th anniversary of the diocese, the meeting will be held from June 7th to 9th. Mgr. Salvatore Pennacchio, apostolic nuncio to Poland, will officiate the ceremony for raising the Church of the Most Holy Trinity in Janow to the rank of a basilica, while next Saturday the celebrations for the diocesan anniversary will be hosted by mgr. Wojciech Polak, primate of Poland. At the plenary meeting, mgr. Stanislaw Gadecki, president of the Polish Bishops Conference, will report about the preparations in the run-up to the meeting of the presidents of the European Bishops Conferences, due in Poznan in mid-September, which, though mainly focussed on volunteering, will also talk about youth evangelisation. Young people will also be addressed at the plenary meeting by mgr. Marek Solarczyk, president of the Polish Bishops Council for the youth pastoral service, who will add a few reflections to the discussion about the way the Polish Church and its young people can make a contribution to the Bishops’ plenary meeting next October.
