Youth, faith, serving and youth pastoral care are the key items on the agenda of day one of the spring plenary Assembly of the German Bishops Conference, the Dbk, that is taking place in Ingolstadt until Thursday, February 22nd. The next international ecclesial events have been dealt with in two separate press conferences: the 12th world pilgrimage to Rome, organised by Coetus Internationalis Ministrantium (CIM), an international movement of altar boys and girls, will be held from July 28th to August 4th 2018. CIM calls to “seek peace with the altar boys and girls, who have been specially invited to Rome for a week to practice the communication of the hearts”, said Klara A. Csiszar, pastoral theologian and member of the steering committee of CIM. “Right now, we expect over sixty thousand acolytes and altar boys and girls to come from at least 16 countries, and not just from Europe. They will come from Antigua and Barbuda, Belgium, France, Croatia, Luxembourg, Austria, Portugal, Romania, the USA, Switzerland, Serbia, Slovakia, the Check Republic, Ukraine, Hungary and, of course, Germany”, from which at least fifty thousand boys and girls will go to Rome, Csizar assured. The highlight of the pilgrimage will be an audience with Pope Francis in St Peter’s Square. The motto of the international pilgrimage to Rome will be “Seek peace and pursue it” (Psalm 34,15b).
