Cardinal Vingt-Trois: in hospital since February 25th with Guillain-Barré syndrome

On February 25th, cardinal André Vingt-Trois, archbishop of Paris, went to hospital. The news was given by a release issued today by the diocese. “The tests – the release says – revealed that he suffered from Guillain-Barré syndrome as a consequence of a viral infection. He is being tested and treated”. The release also says “a long rehabilitation” will be needed. Being unable to officiate the Easter celebrations, the text goes on, the archbishop of Paris “will join in prayer with all the diocese, as this year is more strictly related to the Passion of the Lord during the Days of Holy Week”. Chrismal Mass will be officiated by monsignor Jérôme Beau in Notre-Dame with the auxiliary bishops, general vicars, priests, deacons and faithful of the diocese. “Deeply moved by the many messages of sympathy and encouragement that he has been sent and unable to reply, the cardinal expresses to all of them his gratitude and – the release ends – confides in everyone’s prayers”.
