(Bratislava) – “Courage” is the word that will be used most often by young Catholics during the forthcoming months of preparation for the National Youth Meeting (NYM) 2018 due to be held in Presov. The Council for Youth and Universities of the Bishops’ Conference has elaborated nine topics inspired by nine figures described in the Gospel of John. The materials entitled “Courageous Year” are offered to parishes, schools and youth communities for spiritual formation not only in relation to the NYM, but also to World Youth Day in Panama. “It will be a systematic process of preparation. Each topic will develop some aspects of courage as a virtue that is very useful not only in everyday life but also in regard to living one´s personal faith and being a witness to Christ”, explains Ondrej Chrvala, secretary of the Council. The Courageous Year was officially launched on 30 September. Special attention will be paid to the Virgin Mary. Msgr. Stanislav Stolarik, president of the Commission for Liturgy, will introduce various prayers “in the language of youth”. The topics for each month will have their own songs written and performed by the best gospel musicians in Slovakia. “In this world of modern technologies it is not easy to attract the attention of young boys and girls, so we want to offer them formation that will not only enrich their spiritual lives but also fill them with the joy of small things, a joy they can experience in their hearts”, explain the organizers of one of the biggest youth projects.
