Denmark: new church in Struer for the Catholic communities of Herning and Lemvig

L'edificio che dovrebbe diventare una chiesa

A new Catholic church will be erected in the town of Struer, in Denmark’s north-west Jutland region: negotiations are underway for the purchase of a building belonging to a wholesale company of packaging machines and other equipment, the website of the Danish Diocese reports. The bargaining is conducted by the “Ansgar” Foundation on behalf of the Diocese. The municipality has already “welcomed the request for the conversion of the building” which was used as a centre for the display of products and offices. If the operation goes according to plan, the Church will be ready in 2018. It will be at the disposal of the two Catholic communities of Herning and Lemvig, about 70 kilometres away from each other, since Struer lies in a relatively central position and lacked a bigger church for the two communities. The space in the building previously allocated to offices will host the meeting room, the parish priest’s office, and the sacristy, while the large exhibition hall will be transformed into a church.
