Ukraine: new website dedicated to the Czech Dominican Patrik Kuzel

(Bratislava) – A new website dedicated to the Czech Dominican Patrik Kuzela, tortured to death by the Nazis for his faith in 1942, has been recently launched to commemorate his brave testimony. An online archive of his documents, pictures, poems and letters can be found on the website showing his “extraordinary human and intellectual maturity”, although he died very young at the age of only 26. “According to official records, he died of pneumonia, but in reality he was tortured to death because of his faith and humbleness that had provoked the savagery of his warders. Because of his attitude and total devotion to God, his jailers sent him to the death camp of Auschwitz”, explain the initiators of the project. “His letters and poems, written in prison, as well as the witness of his fellow prisoners leave no doubt that he died as a saint, with humbleness, faith and devotion until his last breath”, say the members of the Dominican order. In their letter to his family shortly after his death they wrote: “We do not pray for him but to him, because he was great in the eyes of God”.
