Pope Francis: audience, no to women victims of trafficking and to “human body as a commodity”

“Clothing the naked” means “returning dignity to those who are naked”. Pope Francis explained this at the end of his General Audience today, recalling that surely we can respond to this corporal work of mercy by “giving clothes to those who have none, but let us also think of those women victims of human trafficking who are thrown onto the streets, or of the other many ways of using the human body as a commodity, even that of children. Also, think of those who do not have a job, a house, a fair wage, or who are discriminated against because of their ethnicity or faith”. “These are all forms of nakedness that urge us, Christians, to be attentive, vigilant, and ready to act”, Pope Francis said.
