24 HOURS FOR THE LORD: INITIATIVES IN THE CHURCHES OF NORTHERN EUROPE

The European dioceses respond to Pope Francis’ invitation to the "24 hours for the Lord. God full of mercy", an initiative of prayer that, on 13th on 14th March, will join devotees all over the world in a chain of prayer. The picture on the poster of the initiative is posted on the websites of the Bishops Conferences, such as Holland and Latvia, or on the websites of the dioceses, such as Luxembourg, Stockholm, Amsterdam or Copenhagen. Some dioceses have organised events of prayer, others are simply posting the invitation of the Pontifical Council for the New Evangelisation. "In our dioceses, it will be difficult to cover the 24 hours everywhere", writes, in a message, the bishop of Copenhagen, Czeslaw Kozon, "but I encourage everyone, as far as feasible, to join in Pope Francis’ prayer for some time. This may happen, for example, by organising a celebration, a vigil of adoration with the Blessed Sacrament on display or joining in prayer, individually". In Luxembourg, the 24 rotas of prayer that the pastoral office has organised in partnership with the Franciscan nuns are already fully covered. But more people can still join in, if they like, by signing in online. ” “
