SLOVAKIA: NATIONAL MEETING OF MARIAN YOUTH STARTING IN NITRA

(Sir Europe – Bratislava) – "Do not be afraid" is the main topic of the seventh national meeting of the Association of Marian Youth starting today in the ancient city of Nitra. "It is an event where all members of the Association, youth and community leaders, religious persons and people of good will from across the whole of Slovakia, touched by Marian spirituality, share their testimonies and exchange life and work experiences under the protection of the Virgin Mary", explain the organisers. This year’s title of the meeting is inspired by the words of St. John Paul II. The program, due to last until 28 July, will include Eucharistic celebrations, adorations, moments of prayer, discussions. Participants plan to hold several special workshops on the streets of Nitra to attract the attention of the inhabitants and evangelize. The main lecture will be delivered by Mons. Jozef Halko, auxiliary bishop of the Bratislava Archdiocese, and the program will culminate with a pilgrimage to St. Michael’s Church in Drázovce, one of the most ancient monuments of early Christianity in the Slovak lands, built at the beginning of the 12th century.
