Ccee (Council of European Bishops Conferences) and Comece (Commission of the EU’s Bishops Conferences) will organise the II European Catholic Social Days, which will be named "Christian faith and the future of Europe", in Madrid from 18th to 21st September. The initiative is supported by the archbishopric of Madrid and the Spanish Bishops Conference. Guests speakers will include Catholics working in the social apostolate of the Church in 29 European countries: "That’s why it will be a great opportunity to reflect together on the mission of the Church in today’s society – a release issued by the diocese of Madrid today states –. Bishops, priests, men of religion and lay people will gather to deal with and debate the big social issues on the scene of an endlessly changing Europe, whose identity cannot be understood without the decisive help of the Christian faith". The Days will be opened by Mass, officiated by cardinal Péter Erdõ, president of Ccee. It will be followed by the speeches of cardinals Antonio María Rouco Varela, archbishop of Mdarid, Erdõ and Reinhard Marx, president of Comece, and a lecture of the rector of St Dámaso Theological University (Madrid), Javier Prades López.
