Action Medeor (Germany), IHP (England) and Pharmaceutical Bank Foundation (Italy), three of the biggest non-profit organisations in Europe specialised in drug donations in humanitarian emergency settings, have launched EURMED, the first European platform for the collection of drugs for the most needy. "The creation of this platform explained Paolo Gradnik, President of Pharmaceutical Bank Foundation will facilitate the donation of drugs from European pharmaceutical companies. As from today, in fact, pharmaceutical companies will be able to donate those drugs that have not yet expired and can still be used, but that for various reasons are not on the market. If pharmaceutical companies respond to our challenge, some 5 million drug packets a year could be donated to the needy". Action Medeor, IHP and Pharmaceutical Bank, which are responsible at national level for the donation of drugs in Germany, the United Kingdom and Italy respectively, share a common vision to serve the pharmaceutical sector in Europe, using the same mechanism for the donation of drugs. More specifically, Action Medeor and IHP are involved in health emergency situations and aid projects all around the world, while Pharmaceutical Bank operates in Italy, Spain and Portugal and is committed to fighting poverty in the healthcare system.
