SLOVAKIA: YOUTH TO CELEBRATE THE YEAR OF OUR LADY OF SEVEN SORROWS

(Sir Europe – Bratislava) – The National Pilgrimage to the Shrine of Our Lady of Seven Sorrows, due to be held on 15 September 2014 with the expected participation of over 50,000 pilgrims, will have an interesting "preview" this year. To mark the occasion, young people from the whole of Slovakia and abroad will hold a special vigil on 14 September. Registration for the event has already started and the program will include personal testimonies, theatre performances and a spiritual program with prayers, Eucharistic celebration and adoration. "The aim of this vigil is to make young boys and girls better understand the sorrowful heart of the Mother of Jesus Christ, tormented by pain, and to learn from her how to be wise and how to fully trust in God’s love", explains Ondrej Chrvala, leader of the coordination team, in an interview for SIR. The event responds to the invitation of the Slovak bishops in the framework of celebrations for the Year of Our Lady of Seven Sorrows, patroness of Slovakia, declared for 2014. "During the evening we want to reflect on the seven sorrows of the Virgin Mary and to present them in the language of modern youth", says program coordinator Pavol Danko.
