The thirty-sixth Week for Families of the diocese of Cádiz and Ceuta opened in the Salesian centre of Algeciras, in Spain, yesterday. "Families on a mission to serve the transmission of faith and life", is the theme running through all of the events planned for the next few days. After a Eucharistic celebration, yesterday the event was opened by a talk with the bishop of Osma-Soria, monsignor Gerardo Melgar, about the Week’s theme, and by workshops to present new family and pro-life pastoral initiatives. The first day ended with the staging of the play "St Peter". An area has been set up in the centre with information booths manned by the movements and associations that work in support of families. Every year, the diocese’s Week for families offers some effective goals and contents and an opportunity for family and pro-life pastoral professionals to share their experiences. This year’s Week will last until Sunday 16th November and will include events in different places across the diocese of Cádiz and Ceuta. The Week will end with a Eucharistic celebration officiated by the diocesan bishop, monsignor Rafael Zornoza, in the Cathedral of Cádiz.
