On the Day of St Giovanni Bosco, on 31st January Austria’s youth groups and students will take part in the fund-raising initiative of the "Jugend Eine Welt" charity to help street children through a number of projects. This has been announced by Jew, in a notice: this year, the campaign will be focussed on Brazil, the country that will be hosting the world football championship. "We are worried about reports on social cleansing measures as part of the preparations for the world football championship, which mainly concern street children and teenagers", the president of the organisation, Reinhard Heiserer, said. "The world football championship is a huge market for some, while others may think themselves lucky if they may just watch and not be driven out of public spaces or have their human rights violated". The new Don Bosco project is focussed on Brazilian children, especially those of Recife and Fortaleza, which will host some of the matches of the world football championship: 500 destitute children will be assisted and entertained with artistic and sports activities. "This is mainly about sparing these children from crime and desertion", Heiserer explained.
