SPAIN RAILWAY ACCIDENT: SCHULZ (EU) SENDS EUROPE’S SYMPATHY” “” ” ” “

(Sir Europe – Brussels) – "I am deeply saddened at learning of the railway accident that happened in Santiago de Compostela, where so many people lost their lives". Martin Schulz, president of the European Parliament, offers his and the European Union’s condolences to the victims’ families, to the Spanish people and the Spanish authorities. "We wish the injured people will recover soon". Mentioning the coincidence of today’s Day of St James, worshipped at the sanctuary of Compostela, Schulz adds: "My sympathy goes to the city of Santiago too, on a day that is special for all of Galicia". And he adds: "Our gratitude goes to the many rescuers and volunteers whose indefatigable efforts have helped save many human lives".
