(Sir Europe – Bratislava) – The Ukrainian Catholic Eparchy of St. John the Baptist in Curitiba is getting ready for the celebration of World Youth Day by preparing for the missionary week due to start tomorrow and last until 22 July in the city of Prudentopil, the site of the largest Ukrainian community in Brazil. Some 75% of the residents of Prudentopil are Ukrainian. About 300 young people should arrive in the city to be hosted by local families and participate in prayers, spiritual meetings, catechization, missionary activities, workshops, cultural events and special programs. The missionary week will be officially opened on 16 July in the parish church of St. Josaphat. Youth will by addressed by the auxiliary bishop of the Eparchy of St. John the Baptist in Curitiba, Myron Mazur. In the afternoon, participants will begin their missionary visits to Prudentopil families and visits to neighbouring places like Edurdo Shaves, Barra Bonita, Piciri, Tizhuko, Marcondes and Ponte Alta will follow in the next days.
