(Sir Europe – Brussels) – "Creating new opportunities for young people: what is needed now?": this conference, sponsored by the Commission of the Bishops’ Conferences of the European Community (COMECE), will be held in Brussels on 4 September 2013. "Young people are confronted with various challenges: the crisis, rising unemployment, rapidly changing living conditions and an ageing population", reads the invitation to the event. "During the conference potential political and practical responses to these challenges shall be discussed. Beside the need for strong education and youth policies, it shall also be made clear that young people’s demands must be respected across the board". The programme of the meeting, organised by COMECE together with the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung Foundation, Rete Juventutis and Don Bosco International, has received the support of MEPs Thomas Mann and Patrizia Toia. The conference will be divided into three parts. Following a general introduction on the situation of young people on the labour market and social implications, the employment crisis will be discussed, before moving on to consider the conditions necessary to ensure youth participation and inclusion in society. Everyone is invited to attend the event: registration is already open. More information at www.comece.eu.” ”
