"In the survey we conducted prior to the drawing up of the guidebook on preparation to marriage and help for young married couples, we received as many as 400 different textbooks and documents on such preparation from the dioceses all over the world": this was said today in the Vatican, during the presentation of the schedule of the VII World Family Meeting, by mgr. Jean Laffitte, secretary of the Papal Council for the Family. The "guidebook" will be ready by the end of 2012, that is, before the Milan’s World Meeting (3″ “0 May 3 June). "The textbook we wish to draw up will replace the one of about fifteen years ago. Nowadays, many things have changed for young engaged and married couples. In addition, we must take into account the remarkable differences that may exist between the systems for preparation to marriage in the different countries and continents", he added. "The aim is to provide the Bishops Conferences, and therefore for them to provide each diocese and parish, with general guidance about preparation to marriage which is in keeping with the times. What matters is that young people understand what they are asking the Church for, when they ask to celebrate a sacramental marriage".
