VII WORLD FAMILY MEETING: MGR. DE SCALZI (MILAN), "HOSTING FAMILIES FROM THE SOUTH OF THE WORLD"

"The family is the place of the most intimate roots from which man takes substance. Like family, like city". This was stated by mgr. Erminio De Scalzi, auxiliary bishop of the archdiocese of Milan, at the press conference for the presentation of the VII World Family Meeting that will take place in Milan from 30 May to 3 June 2012. "The problem of work is really hot right now; the foundation of the family – said cardinal Tettamanzi’s delegate – is inherent in it, but that of the feast deserves no less attention". "Milan’s traditional laboriousness risks placing work at the centre of life, sacrificing the feast, as the time of communion with God", De Scalzi added. Milan’s bishop announces that "Milan is ready to take responsibility for the event, actually there is hope it will host many poor families from the countries of the South of the world that want to join in". In particular, he pointed out that 2013 will be the 1700th anniversary of the Edict of Milan and that the Universal Expo will take place in 2015. "So, the World Family Meeting is a sort of rehearsal for the 2015 Expo", mgr. De Scalzi said.
