HOLY SEE: OFFICIAL PROGRAMME OF PAPAL VISIT TO SPAIN ANNOUNCED TODAY

The Holy See published today the official programme of Benedict XVI’s Apostolic Journey to Spain on 6-7 November. The Holy Father will visit Santiago the Compostela, on the occasion of the Jubilee Year of Compostela, and Barcelona for the consecration of the Sagrada Familia Church. The Pope will arrive at Santiago de Compostela’s International Airport at 11.30 a.m. on Saturday, where he will have a private meeting with Their Majesties, the Princes of Asturias. Following a visit to the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela, the Pope will meet the Spanish cardinals and the Members of the Executive Committee of the Spanish Bishops’ Conference at the Archbishopric of Santiago de Compostela. At 4.30 p.m., a Holy Mass will be celebrated to mark the Jacobeo Holy Year at Plaza del Obradoiro in Santiago de Compostela. The Pope will leave for Barcelona in the evening, where he will celebrate a Holy Mass for the dedication of the altar and of the Sagrada Familia Church the following morning. In the afternoon, Benedict XVI will visit the "Obra benefico-social Nen Deu", an educational centre for children and adults with disabilities sponsored by the Catholic Church of Barcelona. At 7.15 p.m., the Pope will return to Rome after a farewell ceremony at the airport.
