The German Bishops Conference (Dbk), gathered in its plenary session, presented yesterday, during a press conference, the measures for prevention of child sex abuse. Mgr. Robert Zollitsch, president of Dbk, and mgr. Stephan Ackermann, Dbk delegate for the sex abuse, illustrated such measures, which have been grouped into a "framework regulation”, in which "prevention of sex abuse is an integral part of the church’s work with children and youth". The regulation is binding on "all people in charge of the wellbeing and protection of children and youth within Dbk". In addition, Dbk developed a website at www.praevention-kirche.de, which illustrates the work done by the Catholic Church to prevent sex abuse. The website was developed in cooperation with several professionals, including the abuse toll-free number workers, Catholic associations and associations for the protection of the victims. "In our reflections, we have taken into account what we have learnt from the many interviews we had with the victims, about their sufferings and the circumstances that led to them”, mgr. Ackermann said. During the press conference, a letter to the parents about how to prevent sex abuse was presented.
