(Brussels) "In view of the implementation of the Lisbon Treaty, I would like to find a candidate for each of the three posts before the European Council’s meeting". The Swedish President Fredrik Reinfeldt does not mention any name as for the person who will fill the post of "stable" president of the EU, of Mr. CFSP (the foreign policy chief) and of the Secretary-General of the Council of the European Union. He does say, however, on the margins of the parliamentary session, that "an extra informal summit of Heads of State and Government is going to be held on 19 November to reach a political agreement on the issue". It will be "a dinner summit" and before that "I am going to start a second round of consultations with Member States", explained Reinfeldt, who "wound up a first round of talks with no consensus for either post and many names swirling around". The Swedish President added that it is important to find "a good balance between left and right, but also between big and small nations, between north and south, men and women". Reinfeldt hopes the Council will take a unanimous decision but does not exclude the majority option as stated in the Treaties.
