“For life – for the family", this is the theme of the National Pastoral Day of the Slovenian Catholic Church, due to take place tomorrow, May 10th, from 10.30 am, in the Arena petrol in Celje. The event is one of those covered by the pastoral calendar for 2007-2008, all focussed on the family, and in fact, explains to SIR mgr. Andrej Saje, secretary general of the Slovenian Bishops, "it marks the end of the first stage of the guidelines of the First Plenary Council of the Slovenian Church that took place in 1997-2000. Therefore, the aim of the Day is to understand the further development of the path that the Church in Slovenia is outlining on the national scene and the contribution it can give to the growth of society". Celje will host delegates from the dioceses, as well as national political, cultural, social and ecumenical representatives. The co-celebration will be officiated by the president of the Slovenian bishops, mgr. Alojz Uran, archbishop of Ljubljana. At the end, the Apostolic Nuncio to the Republic of Slovenia, mgr. Santos Abril y Castello, will read Benedict XVI’s message to the Church of Slovenia and will bless the pictures of the Holy Family, which will be handed out to the families from all the parishes of Slovenia.” ” ” “
