BENEDICT XVI: 25TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE C.T.V., "AN INSTRUMENT OF COMMUNION IN THE CHURCH"

"Videre Petrum, to see the Pope is the desire that leads many pilgrims to Rome. Today this desire can be partly fulfilled by radio and television stations. First through their voice and now even through their images, many people have been able to take part in the celebrations of the events happening at the Vatican or in other places visited by the Pope throughout his ministry. Yours is, first and foremost, a precious service for the communion in the Church." The Pope addressed these words to staff and advisors of the Vatican Television Centre (C.T.V.) who were received in an audience for the 25th anniversary of its foundation. "Since the beginning, your centre has been characterised by co-operation with Catholic televisions," continued Benedict XVI. In Italy, Telepace and SAT2000 are broadcasting almost all of your productions, and is encouraging to know that many Catholic televisions in different regions of the world are linked up to you. In this way, a greater number of faithful can follow, live or as a recording, what is happening at the heart of the Church." (continued) ” ” ” ” ” “
