EUROPEAN AND AFRICAN BISHOPS: DA CUNHA (CCEE) GIVES A PREVIEW OF THE FINAL MESSAGE OF LIVERPOOL (3)

The next meeting of African and European bishops will probably be postponed to 2010, explains father da Cunha, because "next year there will be the Synod for Africa, which will certainly bring up concerns for social issues, justice and peace". The theme of the next meeting might be "Exchanges and cooperation between pastoral workers (African nuns, missionaries, priests in Europe, priests who come with immigrants)". According to the just-appointed secretary of Ccee (the Liverpool workshop has been his first public event), "the meeting has been really very successful: the bishops had a chance to speak even outside the meetings; issues have been extensively investigated and this has borne fruit; becoming aware of the issue of migration has helped a lot to bring a greater concern into one’s Churches". The texts of the meeting will be published and sent to the Vatican as well, to the Secretariat of the Synod for Africa, "to help with the preparation of the meeting".” “
