EUROPE AND YOUTH: VAN LUYN (COMECE), TAIZÉ INVITES TO "OVERCOME BOUNDARIES"

” “"We are forgetting about human life and its spiritual dimension. The building of Europe cannot only rely on economic, political and scientific values". This was stated to SIR by the president of the Commission of the EU Bishops Conferences (Comece), mgr. Adrian van Luyn, during the Taizé meeting in Brussels, promoted by Comece. "We cannot do without rediscovering the human values that must not be conditional on any private interest", added the president of Comece, who pointed at Taizé as an example of a peaceful building of cultures and confessions. "Mutual understanding, dialogue and knowledge are the distinctive traits of a European walk and integration process. Taizé has no political ends, but offers a contribution to overcome the boundaries and bring peoples closer to each other. It would be nice – he concluded – to promote such meetings with other church groups, associations and movements as well".” “
