GERMANY: BISHOPS DISCUSS THE FUTURE OF CONSECRATED LIFE

“Serving the Gospel together": this is the title of the meeting organised by the German Bishops Conference for 1st February in Würzburg to discuss the future of consecrated life. Twenty-five bishops, including the president of the Bishops Conference, card. Karl Lehmann, 120 members of secular orders and institutes of Germany, Austria and Switzerland, will attend the meeting which tops up the intensive process of dialogue that has been going on for two years between the bishops and consecrated people. Card. Lehmann will give a theological speech on "Calling and sending of the communities of consecrated life in the Church today”. The speech will be followed by four statements from consecrated people, about the current developments of consecrated life. In the afternoon, the participants, divided into workgroups ,will speak of their experiences. The end of the meeting will be marked by High Mass officiated by card. Lehmann at the Cathedral of Würzburg.
